Original Art

« Back to Glossary Index

Original artwork. What is that anyway? What constitutes an original piece of art? In the art world, it means that only one piece of that artwork is in existence. Since a painting is done by that particular artist, it becomes a unique expression of that particular person. However, some artists will be more original than others though as that’s where creativity and ingenuity come into the picture. There will be artists who paint in a similar style using the same techniques, and there will be artists who are recognized for their specific way of painting, these are artists we know today as Jackson Pollock, Pablo Picasso, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Vincent Van Gogh, Joan Miró, Frida Kahlo, etc. They made a mark on the art world with their unique style that is recognized as theirs without needing anyone to tell them that it’s by them.
