For the past two months and a half, I have been working with TAPP Water S.L., a Barcelona-based startup specialising in sustainable water filtration technology and it’s been quite a ride.
I was mostly brought in to design and develop a new product concept and prototype, and build a sampling station used for R&D purposes, but the collaboration exploded and extended towards other projects such as solving technical problems by redesigning the current product development projects meant to be produced through the means of injection moulding; rapid prototyping using 3D printing; generating new ideas; consulting on design and development matters; and various short-term projects. I must say, we did a lot of work in those two months.
I cannot share most of the major projects, however, I can share one, the development of the sampling station. It will be used to test water filter capacity. It was designed and built, as always, with a holistic approach.
The station was made from an old presentation stand, revamped and turned into a multifunctional station that can be used both for R&D and marketing purposes. The water delivery is possible thanks to two 10L ergonomic buckets and a self-priming 100psi water pressure pump, which switches on and off automatically with the opening and closing of the faucet.
Along with the set of four wheels, this station is made for maximum ease of use and mobility. With a fresh paint job and varnish, it’s also pleasant to use and looks good. Another hack of this station is that an infinite water flow can be achieved without having to fill buckets with water. DIY all the way. Now, this station can deliver and I can’t wait to see what TAPP Water can do with it.
