Artist Canvas

Canvas is a plain-woven fabric used by artists as a base surface on which they apply art paints. They are usually made of cotton or linen.

The material is usually stretched across a wooden frame called a stretcher. The canvas is then primed and coated with a liquid mixture called gesso before paints are applied onto it.
